Ricky's Cult Crushes // May 2018

Ricky's Cult Crushes // May 2018

You may already know, but I moved all of my subscriptions to my beauty channel: AllyBrianne
You can check out my unboxings there of all of my monthly and seasonal subscriptions.
The reason I'm posting this blog today is because I just got this months Ricky's Cult Crushes in the mail last week. I planned on filming a quick unboxing to post Sunday, but my weekend got away from me so here we are. This is only my second month receiving this subscription. I'm up in the air about it honestly. Last months ( Ricky's Cult Crushes // April 2018 ) was a good box, but sadly the pans in the eyeshadow palette kept falling out! You can see all that business in the video! I was disappointed because the shadows were great.. The packaging not so much.

If you don't know what Ricky's Cult Crushes is... It is a $11 (now $14, I'll explain) monthly subscription that has mainly beauty items. This is a subscription through Ricky's NYC (you can look them up on Instagram @rickys_nyc) or you can sign up here

June will be the first month that this subscription increases from $11 to $14 each month. Some are not happy, but to me it's not a big difference and I understand that their subscription is growing. They want to put out the best products and sizes they can with increasing the value. The downside of things is that their May box isn't super appealing (so I have heard on Instagram). People are unsubscribing or making their voice be heard on some of Ricky's NYC posts. "Why announce an increase in price and then send out a box like this months to promote better items?!"
I understand, but then I don't.
I understand because my box got here just a week ago.. I didn't even have enough time to share it with you all in the month of May. The email explained that it was an issue with one of the suppliers for this box, but still.. You would think they would have that all sorted before shipping out any.
I don't understand their frustration on the actual products though. I was pleased with this box. All new items to try. Some very interesting products to try, but that's what keeps these subscriptions fun! Check out the products I got down below. I haven't had the chance to try them all out yet, so look for them in future blogs and videos!
**I also wanted to mention that they placed a bonus item in my box I'm assuming for the delay.

(1) Bioderma Sensibio H2O ($3 this is sample size)

This is like a micellar water. It is a cleansing and makeup remover product. I'm not blown away about the size of this product, but nevertheless, I'll give it a go! I love micellar waters for removing my makeup, but also for cleaning my falsies. I'll put this item in a skincare blog!
(2) Laundress Wash + Stain Bar  ($6 this is full-size)

This item is very interesting to me! It's literally a bar of soap. Apparently some thought it was a face cleanser by the email I got from Ricky's NYC explaining that it is in fact NOT and that it will burn your eyes! It is a stain remover for clothes. I didn't quite understand until I read that it is great for on-the-go to remove makeup from your clothes if you get a smudge on them. Neat idea and I'll have to make sure to try it out, although I don't really ever get makeup on my clothes..
(3) Pure Paw Paw Multi-Purpose Ointment (grape) ($6.99 this is full-size)

Another interesting product. I don't use ointments, but with how dry my lips have been already this summer I'll be using this to heavy duty moisturize them! It applies clear and the thickness depends on how much you apply. It is an ointment consistency so it is thicker than your average balm. This does have a great grape scent to it!

(4) J. Cat Liquid Highlighter (white goddess) ($8.99 this is full-size)

I'm so excited to try this product out! There was a few different shades and I'm very happy that I got the lighter one for my fair skin. I'm not going to lie, while swatching this did feel a little oily (even after shaking it up), but the pigment is there! Better than CoverFX? I'm not sure, but I'll put it to the test!

(5) Bh Cosmetics Sculpt + Blend Mini Brush Set (I wasn't able to find this exact brush set)

This is a brand I adore. They're so affordable for the quality of their products! Sadly, I have never tried any of their brushes, but I've heard great things so I'm excited to try these little brushes out. These are great for traveling so you can keep your larger brushes home. Fingers crossed that these are good!

(6) L.A. Girl Glide Gel Eyeliner (deep bronze) ($5 this is full-size)

This is my delay gift. I've actually heard from a couple YouTubers that their eyeliners are really good. I haven't tried them, but will have to with my next smoky eye. This is full-size so that was really nice of them! This shade swatched looks more of just a brown than a bronze shade.

I'm not mad at this months box. It didn't blow me away, but also wasn't the worse!
This months box retails for $24.98 (not including the brushes that I couldn't get a price on or my free delay gift!)

What do you guys think of this subscription? Are you wanting to try it out?

Tower 28 Beauty | Makeup

To the brand that has opened my eyes to a creative outlet while thinking of my skin all the time. Tower 28 Beauty has proved to me that you can have fun with makeup while taking your skin into consideration the entire time. While it's still fun to dip into all my other makeup I have found so much joy in my lightweight makeup ways. The shift happened after trying more cream products and Tower 28 has been one of them. I eyed the beauty of this brand for a while and then took the plunge with their cream bronzer, Bronzino in the shade Sun Coast (the lightest to go with my fair complexion), Beach Please Balm Blush in the shade Power Hour , and a couple of their ShineOn Lip Jellies (Almond & Cashew) .  Their creams are balms so you get a full shine to your look. They not only make your skin look glossy and healthy but also vibrant with the pigment. The blushes really pack a punch in pigment and can be worn as a flush of color or built-up. The bronzer is a little less pigmented th

Beauty Tuesday

For my first " Beauty Tuesday", I thought I would start it off with my May Ipsy bag. If you're not familiar with Ipsy, it's a monthly subscription bag with 4-5 full and/or sample size beauty products. This June marks two years that I've received a bag. Even though some bags are hit or miss, I've continued to be subscribed so I can try out new items. I feel like Ipsy has really upped their game this year and I've loved every bag I've gotten. I'll be sharing my bag with you every month with my own personal review of the bag itself, and each product in it. I'll also blog about how certain makeup wears, feels, and my own opinion of the product. The same for skincare products, and how they work with my skin type.  I hope you enjoy my May 2017 Glam Bag (If you're interested in subscribing to Ipsy's monthly Glam Bag, I'll post the link down below). I'm more into Ipsy for the actual products and not the bags, but I'll admit the ba

Alamar Cosmetics Spanglish | Makeup

I've been loving Alamar since it started and I love to see how far they have come. It's an indie brand I will always recommend so to then get their products in Boxycharm or Boxy Pop Up sales its a win win! That's how I got my Spanglish palette . You can already see this is an Ally palette by the purples! It's a gorgeous one with buttery mattes and stunning metallics. I also appreciate the subtle browns while also having the pops of color too. I found the color story pretty, but also odd. It's not one you see a lot but it does work. I have also found myself creating unique shades by mixing shades together. It's definitely a cute summer moment that you won't be disappointed with.  Swatches left to right: Pero Like, Eres Un Show, Tiene Swing, Guao, Ay Que Cute, Jajaja, Muy Excited, & Ponte Hyper.  Did you miss these blogs?  Lizzie McGuire x ColourPop | Makeup KVD Beauty Edge of Reality | Makeup Beautbean x Shroud It's Freakin' Bats | Makeup I als
