Tarte Shape Tape Hydrating Foundation Review

Tarte Shape Tape Hydrating Foundation Review

Face Products Used:

Too Faced HangoveRX Primer
Tarte Shape Tape Hydrating Foundation (porcelain)
Tarte Shape Tape Concealer (fair)
Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder

Like so many I was so excited for this launch! The Tarte Shape Tape Concealer has been a favorite of mine for almost a year now and I still use it all the time! I wasn't sure if I was even going to purchase this foundation in the beginning, because I do agree it's not right to launch such a poorly selection of shades and expect some to "wait" for when you can come up with more shades. There are so many cosmetics companies out there launching 30+ shades of a foundation line. There should've been at least a good variety of each (light, tan, & dark) when launching even if it wasn't many shades at first. I've heard so many different reviews. Some hate this foundation, some love the matte version more, some like this hydrating version more, and some say even having light skin they couldn't even find a shade for them. I personally went to an Ulta to color match myself (instead of guessing online like usual) and found that the only shade close to working for me is the lightest! This is porcelain and it's still not the lightest. It actually matches my skin pretty decently, but if you are any lighter than me then there isn't a shade for you yet. I do like the glass packaging on these, that the cap is just like the concealer, and has the same applicator. This worked best for me with a damp beauty sponge. After one application I had a good medium coverage. I was able to build it up to a full coverage in places, but you can still see my freckles. The Finish is very dewy, so I do agree this is a hydrating foundation! It doesn't feel heavy, but a little tacky before I laid powder over it. Thankfully this foundation did not oxidize, crease, or separate. I feel like I will personally need a pore-filler primer for my t-zone area since I have such large pores, but that is common for me. This wore pretty great for me. It almost reminded me of the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation, but I have to say I like their Water foundation a little more. I can usually wear that one a good 8 hours before it starts breaking down on me. This one started getting pretty oily at the 6 hour mark. It still looked good, but I was shiny in the t-zone area. It was even more so by the 8 hour mark. I didn't touch up with any more powder, but if I did I feel this would have lasted over 8 hours. The trick might be to keep a light powder in your purse when wearing this foundation. Besides being a oil slick, my foundation looked pretty good until the 9 hour mark and that was when it started to separate in places because my skin was so oily.
I am really liking this so far and I'm more intrigued to try out the matte formula now, but like a I said I would recommend their water foundation over this one any day. The finish is really pretty and the coverage is better than a lot of foundations I've tried.

This foundation gets a  9/10 for me!

Beauty Tuesday

For my first " Beauty Tuesday", I thought I would start it off with my May Ipsy bag. If you're not familiar with Ipsy, it's a monthly subscription bag with 4-5 full and/or sample size beauty products. This June marks two years that I've received a bag. Even though some bags are hit or miss, I've continued to be subscribed so I can try out new items. I feel like Ipsy has really upped their game this year and I've loved every bag I've gotten. I'll be sharing my bag with you every month with my own personal review of the bag itself, and each product in it. I'll also blog about how certain makeup wears, feels, and my own opinion of the product. The same for skincare products, and how they work with my skin type.  I hope you enjoy my May 2017 Glam Bag (If you're interested in subscribing to Ipsy's monthly Glam Bag, I'll post the link down below). I'm more into Ipsy for the actual products and not the bags, but I'll admit the ba

Ricky's Cult Crushes // May 2018

Ricky's Cult Crushes // May 2018  You may already know, but I moved all of my subscriptions to my beauty channel: AllyBrianne   You can check out my unboxings there of all of my monthly and seasonal subscriptions.  The reason I'm posting this blog today is because I just got this months Ricky's Cult Crushes in the mail last week. I planned on filming a quick unboxing to post Sunday, but my weekend got away from me so here we are. This is only my second month receiving this subscription. I'm up in the air about it honestly. Last months ( Ricky's Cult Crushes // April 2018 ) was a good box, but sadly the pans in the eyeshadow palette kept falling out! You can see all that business in the video! I was disappointed because the shadows were great.. The packaging not so much.  If you don't know what  Ricky's Cult Crushes is... It is a $11 (now $14, I'll explain) monthly subscription that has mainly beauty items. This is a subscription throug

I don't know what took so long this month whether it was Ipsy or just USP
