Maybelline Superstay Foundation Review + Berry Colored Look

Maybelline Superstay Foundation Review + Berry Colored Look

Products Used in this Look:

Too Faced HangoveRX Primer
Maybelline Superstay Foundation (110 Porcelain)
Tarte Shape Tape Concealer (fair)
Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder
Okay Guys, I wanted to love this drugstore foundation, but it's just not doing it for me.  I usually try every new foundation with the Too Faced HangoveRX primer because it's my top favorite and I know how great it works for my skin. A lot of the time this will do and then it's the waiting game on how the actual foundation wears. With this particular one, I had issues from the beginning. These pictures are from the very first time I tried this foundation. I have worn it a handful of times since. As you may know, I like to really wear the foundation several times to really be able to see if it is a keeper or not. This also helps me determine which is the best way to apply it (sponge, brush, etc.), what primers work great with it, and even other products as well!
This one was tricky for me. I noticed it sinking right into my pores and making them so noticeable! After wearing this for about 5 hours (no touch ups) I was a greasy mess! I seriously thought to myself "I hate this foundation" and didn't even want to try it out again! I still needed to know if I could make this work with other products, so I took some Smashbox pore filling primer on my problem areas and left the rest of my face bare. Awful. I ended up looking so dry and patchy. The third time I used the Evelyn Iona Green Tea Primer all over and added the same Smashbox primer to the problem areas. Again it was a fail. This time around it looked cakey. I was honestly about to give up on this foundation and then I decided to give it one more shot with the Too Faced Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Primer. I used that all over my face with no extra pore filling primer and by the 5 hour mark it wasn't looking too bad, but I was still creasy in my expression lines! This primer minimizes the appearance of my pores, while also keeping my skin matte so the foundation didn't get oily.  The longest I normally wear foundation is around 8 hours. That's a good work day and any foundation that last on my skin that long is a great one to me! This claims 24 hour wear, I'm not sure about that, but I doubt it. This is a great drugstore foundation when it comes to coverage that doesn't oxidize. I'm in the shade 110 porcelain and it matches me well. The coverage is more of a medium, but buildable. This foundation was still a tricky one for me to figure out with primers and one that I'm really going to have to remember how to apply, but I still personally have trouble with it creasing and/or sometimes looking patchy in areas! This one is also hard working with concealers. It did alright with Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, but not so much with the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer. It was so patchy under my eyes.
This foundation gets a 7/10 for me!

Beauty Tuesday

For my first " Beauty Tuesday", I thought I would start it off with my May Ipsy bag. If you're not familiar with Ipsy, it's a monthly subscription bag with 4-5 full and/or sample size beauty products. This June marks two years that I've received a bag. Even though some bags are hit or miss, I've continued to be subscribed so I can try out new items. I feel like Ipsy has really upped their game this year and I've loved every bag I've gotten. I'll be sharing my bag with you every month with my own personal review of the bag itself, and each product in it. I'll also blog about how certain makeup wears, feels, and my own opinion of the product. The same for skincare products, and how they work with my skin type.  I hope you enjoy my May 2017 Glam Bag (If you're interested in subscribing to Ipsy's monthly Glam Bag, I'll post the link down below). I'm more into Ipsy for the actual products and not the bags, but I'll admit the ba

Ricky's Cult Crushes // May 2018

Ricky's Cult Crushes // May 2018  You may already know, but I moved all of my subscriptions to my beauty channel: AllyBrianne   You can check out my unboxings there of all of my monthly and seasonal subscriptions.  The reason I'm posting this blog today is because I just got this months Ricky's Cult Crushes in the mail last week. I planned on filming a quick unboxing to post Sunday, but my weekend got away from me so here we are. This is only my second month receiving this subscription. I'm up in the air about it honestly. Last months ( Ricky's Cult Crushes // April 2018 ) was a good box, but sadly the pans in the eyeshadow palette kept falling out! You can see all that business in the video! I was disappointed because the shadows were great.. The packaging not so much.  If you don't know what  Ricky's Cult Crushes is... It is a $11 (now $14, I'll explain) monthly subscription that has mainly beauty items. This is a subscription throug

August Ipsy Glam Bag

I don't know what took so long this month whether it was Ipsy or just USP
