It Cosmetics CC + Illumination // Foundation Review

It Cosmetics CC + Illumination // Foundation Review

I've been trying out this CC cream for a couple months now and I'm loving it! I've never been a huge fan of CC creams in the past because of the lack of coverage. I also wasn't all about taking care of my skin like I am now. This spring I made the decision to cut back on foundations and heavy wear products for more lightweight and skin friendly products at least for the summer time. Who wants such heavy makeup or the feeling of a full coverage foundation melting off your face in the heat? Not me. That's when I looked more into this product. Disclaimer, I haven't tried out their original CC cream. I definitely want to now, but I went with the illumination for more luminosity and dewy looking skin. This is the highest coverage I have ever gotten from a CC cream! It really is there! You can wear this product as light coverage that builds to full coverage depending on how much product you use. Which you don't have to use that much to get full coverage. I want to spend a moment on the shade range because honestly it isn't great. All of It Cosmetics products are about the same in that department and it is a bummer. I have the fairest shade (fair) and I would say it is still 1-2 shades darker than my actual skin tone. At least without my fake tan on. I can pull it off (dragging the product down my neck), but I go through a whole lot more of the product. That is a let down. This is at a high end price point. For a normal full coverage look I go for 3 pumps and thats including my neck. I have also went through about half of this bottle in just a couple months. This is in my everyday makeup drawer at the moment so that is why also, but if you were to buy this for everyday wear be prepared to repurchase (if you have the same struggles as me) every 3 months. That doesn't seem too bad though. What I love besides the coverage is that this is better for my skin than a foundation and there is a SPF 50 in the product! That's great for the summer time, but also all year round! Taking care of your skin really is the first step to amazing makeup application. The wear time CAN be good. I say that because this is verrrry dewy. I use a typical loose setting powder under my eyes to set my concealer, but for the rest of my face I want a more dewy look. I don't want to take that away by adding a powder that will make me matte. That is why I've been loving a glowy satin finishing powder (I use Flower Beauty Miracle Glow Satin Finishing Powder) for the rest of my face. If you are an oily person you might want to stick to their original (like I said I haven't tried it yet) or their new Bye Bye Foundation that I haven't tried either. If you're dry (or combo to dry like me) you'll love this, but for long-wear a setting powder is still a must! IF you don't set it be prepared to look more oily than dewy and have separation and creasing by the 5 hour mark. If I use the satin powder I get a good 8-9 hours. I also have been loving using a matte primer for dewy foundations and/or CC Creams to help cancel out any unwanted oils. The last part I wanted to discuss is the fact that if I wear this too often I get a breakout. I believe it is just my sensitive skin, but it's something to keep in mind. It doesn't always happen, but if I wear it without a break from makeup in general or switching up my foundation I do. That bums me a little, but I still love this!
I give this CC cream a 9/10 for me!
(only because of the shade range and random breakouts.)

Beauty Tuesday

For my first " Beauty Tuesday", I thought I would start it off with my May Ipsy bag. If you're not familiar with Ipsy, it's a monthly subscription bag with 4-5 full and/or sample size beauty products. This June marks two years that I've received a bag. Even though some bags are hit or miss, I've continued to be subscribed so I can try out new items. I feel like Ipsy has really upped their game this year and I've loved every bag I've gotten. I'll be sharing my bag with you every month with my own personal review of the bag itself, and each product in it. I'll also blog about how certain makeup wears, feels, and my own opinion of the product. The same for skincare products, and how they work with my skin type.  I hope you enjoy my May 2017 Glam Bag (If you're interested in subscribing to Ipsy's monthly Glam Bag, I'll post the link down below). I'm more into Ipsy for the actual products and not the bags, but I'll admit the ba

Ricky's Cult Crushes // May 2018

Ricky's Cult Crushes // May 2018  You may already know, but I moved all of my subscriptions to my beauty channel: AllyBrianne   You can check out my unboxings there of all of my monthly and seasonal subscriptions.  The reason I'm posting this blog today is because I just got this months Ricky's Cult Crushes in the mail last week. I planned on filming a quick unboxing to post Sunday, but my weekend got away from me so here we are. This is only my second month receiving this subscription. I'm up in the air about it honestly. Last months ( Ricky's Cult Crushes // April 2018 ) was a good box, but sadly the pans in the eyeshadow palette kept falling out! You can see all that business in the video! I was disappointed because the shadows were great.. The packaging not so much.  If you don't know what  Ricky's Cult Crushes is... It is a $11 (now $14, I'll explain) monthly subscription that has mainly beauty items. This is a subscription throug

I don't know what took so long this month whether it was Ipsy or just USP
