Makeup Monday // Summertime Red Lipsticks

Makeup Monday // Summertime Red Lipsticks

While brainstorming new ideas for these little Makeup Monday's I thought it might be a nice idea to share some of my favorite bold reds for the summertime. While some of these are still poppin' for the rest of the year, I always feel late summer is when I start in with bold reds. These picks are for different reasons. The formula, the undertones, the occasion, etc, are all things I think about when choosing the perfect shade. I feel like a lot of people are so intimidated by reds, myself included some days because they can be so bold. What I like to keep in mind too is the fact that reds are bold, but they're also so flattering. Even if you don't think you can pull off the red it may just be the undertone in that certain shade. There is a red for everyone, but I feel like most can always pull off shades of red more than any other color in the lipstick color range.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick

I've used Jeffree's lipsticks for a while now and I'm never disappointed with them. Although this is a dry-down formula it doesn't leave your lips feeling dried out. It's definitely not the most comfortable lipstick because it still is a matte, but this is one of the best for not drying my lips out while staying in place for a very long time. If there is an occasion that I worry about touch-ups this formula is always my go-to for the wear time. These three reds are so beautiful. They're all three more on the cool tone side (though I'm sure he has some more warm tone reds in his collection), but different hues.
The top swatch is Wifey and it is a deeper cool tone red that pulls a little berry. I feel like this is a flattering red that is suitable with warm or cool tone eye looks. It's such a beautiful shade for a sultry look that is good for date night.
Redrum is next in line and is more of the vibrant pop compared to the other two. This one is a favorite of mine when I'm wanting a long-wearing day time red. I pare it with a simple neutral glam eye look, more highlighter than necessary, and rock it being the center of the makeup look. It is bolder for sure and will be the first part of your makeup others will notice.
If you are comfortable with more berry shades or even deep shades but aren't so sure about reds just yet. Unicorn Blood is a fan favorite for a reason. Though it will pull a little grunge (especially with what look you pare with it) at the same time it is very wearable and is a good gateway into reds. If you're more used to nudes this may not do the same for you because it is rather deep. I'd say keep your skin tone is mind if you aren't comfortable in bolder shades. If you have a deeper complexion shades like Unicorn Blood and Wifey will be more on the wearable/subtle side.
*Side note these are not full-size. They're from the Red & Pink Mini Bundle Set.

ColourPop

If you're not a fan of liquid lips in general or maybe prefer traditional I highly recommend ColourPop Lux lipsticks. They make creme and matte shades that are absolutely stunning! I wanted to mention a couple of reds I own and adore. Both of these shades come from Disney collabs. The wear time is the same with both for me. If it's going to be a long day you'll want to bring your lipstick along for touch-ups. I can say it's mostly after I have a meal, but it is a traditional lipstick so touch-ups happen.
Cruella is the top shade and is the first shade that pulls an orange hue that I have shared so far. It's a brighter bolder lip but again is such a flattering shade.
Snow White is a true cool tone blue red, but to me, it's the perfect shade for a true red. To me, it is probably the most flattering red shade and I probably think that because I see a lot of berry hues in these shades.

The last bunch are from different brands but are worth mentioning. The top swatch is the Huda Beauty Liquid Matte in the shade Alluring that I recently got in my Allure Beauty Box
This shade is so beautiful! It is so bold. It's borderline cool tone and warm tone in the most vibrant way possible. I just wore this shade for the first time (video coming to my YouTube Wednesday), but since I fell in love with the shade and already love the formula it was worth being put in this blog. The formula is a nice one, a little drying, but nothing too terrible. It wears just as well as the JSC formula (I like Jeffree's a little more because they're personally a little more comfortable wearing) and rarely need touch-ups.
This next shade is a Tarte Cosmetics Tarteist Lip Paint in the shade Xoxo. It is in the true red category with the Snow White shade I mentioned above but in liquid lipstick form. Tarte has one of the best formulas for longevity, but it is definitely a formula that is drying. I exfoliate my lips well in advance and make sure my lips are moistured good before using one of theirs, but I still own quite a few because of that wear time.
YSL is so bougie, but I love their Tatouage Couture Matte Stain every time I wear it. This is mini in the shade 1 Rouge Tatouage and is a bold red on more of the cool tone side. They have this shade available in their traditional formula, but I wanted to mention this one because it is probably the longest wearing out of all of these mentioned because it is a stain. It's a thinner consistency that builds up but wears like a stain. It's not my absolute favorite because I don't like stains as much as other formula's, but it's beautiful, long-wearing, and comfortable.
Okay so you may be wondering about this last shade because it really isn't a straight-up red, but I like to rock this shade like a red and wanted to mention it. Ofra Cosmetics has a great liquid formula that is pretty long-wearing as well, hence the Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick name, and I don't have enough of them in my collection! This shade is more of a terra-cotta than red, but it is so flattering, stunning, and a new favorite of mine. This was in collaboration with Kathleen Lights and I applaud her for this shade, Miami Fever

I didn't know I could type so much about red lipsticks, but here I am! What is your go-to red?

Beauty Tuesday

For my first " Beauty Tuesday", I thought I would start it off with my May Ipsy bag. If you're not familiar with Ipsy, it's a monthly subscription bag with 4-5 full and/or sample size beauty products. This June marks two years that I've received a bag. Even though some bags are hit or miss, I've continued to be subscribed so I can try out new items. I feel like Ipsy has really upped their game this year and I've loved every bag I've gotten. I'll be sharing my bag with you every month with my own personal review of the bag itself, and each product in it. I'll also blog about how certain makeup wears, feels, and my own opinion of the product. The same for skincare products, and how they work with my skin type.  I hope you enjoy my May 2017 Glam Bag (If you're interested in subscribing to Ipsy's monthly Glam Bag, I'll post the link down below). I'm more into Ipsy for the actual products and not the bags, but I'll admit the ba

Ricky's Cult Crushes // May 2018

Ricky's Cult Crushes // May 2018  You may already know, but I moved all of my subscriptions to my beauty channel: AllyBrianne   You can check out my unboxings there of all of my monthly and seasonal subscriptions.  The reason I'm posting this blog today is because I just got this months Ricky's Cult Crushes in the mail last week. I planned on filming a quick unboxing to post Sunday, but my weekend got away from me so here we are. This is only my second month receiving this subscription. I'm up in the air about it honestly. Last months ( Ricky's Cult Crushes // April 2018 ) was a good box, but sadly the pans in the eyeshadow palette kept falling out! You can see all that business in the video! I was disappointed because the shadows were great.. The packaging not so much.  If you don't know what  Ricky's Cult Crushes is... It is a $11 (now $14, I'll explain) monthly subscription that has mainly beauty items. This is a subscription throug

August Ipsy Glam Bag

If you're not familiar with Ipsy, it's a monthly subscription bag with 4-5 full and/or sample sized beauty products. I've been getting one for two and an half  years  now. I don't know what took so long this month whether it was Ipsy or just USP
